About SELFSO.COM

An independent private computing organization hosting open-source tools, technical experiments, and creative endeavors.

The Meaning of “Self-So” (自然)

The word selfso is rooted in classical Chinese Taoist philosophy (Ziran / 自然). In contemporary language, the characters translate literally to “nature” or “spontaneity”.

Philosophically, the term signifies the essence of things being true to their own nature — unforced, unconditioned, and perfectly aligned with natural law. In engineering and software craftsmanship, being truthful to a system’s natural order and function is the core ideal of selfso.
